Building Lifelong Friendships: The Social Benefits of Summer Camp
In this blog post, we'll explore the various group activities, team-building exercises, and community engagement opportunities.

Camp ICS is an all-day summer camp run by Intermountain Christian School, a top-ranked private Christian school, in Holladay, Utah.
Years ago, teachers and administrators at Intermountain Christian School (ICS) recognized how many families were looking for summer programs and summer activities for their kids, and how some working parents hoped for affordable childcare options they could feel good about.
We thought, “Hey! We’ve got the space, and we love kids. Let’s start a summer camp!”
Camp ICS has hosted hundreds of campers every summer. The feedback has been tremendous, and we keep improving our programs every year! We’re so honored to serve the broader Salt Lake Valley in this way.
We thoughtfully group campers by age so every child participates in activites tailored to their interests, energy levels, and stage of development.
We want kids to be excited for camp every day, not bored or stuck inside. So, each day of the week, campers do something unique.
They don’t just stay put; but the kids go out and about and experience places like local parks, Uptown Jungle, museums, aquariums, and so much more!

We utilize a structured camper check-in and check-out system to ensure every child’s safety. Campers are released only to authorized individuals designated during registration.
The ICS campus is secure, and all visitors are required to check in and out upon entering the building. For off-site adventures, a dedicated Field Trip Coordinator supports our counselors and campers to help ensure trips run smoothly and safely.
Our counselors are carefully selected for their ability to connect with children, provide strong leadership, and create a positive camp experience throughout the day. Each age group is supported by multiple counselors to maintain appropriate supervision and engagement at all times.
